Import Changes from CSV

Espresso features an advanced data importer that allows you to make bulk changes by importing a CSV file. To minimize the risk of overwriting sensitive or important data, the importer lets you map one or more columns in your file to specific columns in the editor. Additionally, you can target specific rows with your file, ensuring only the intended data is updated.

Importantly, no changes will be applied to your store's data until you review and confirm them. The file is processed entirely in your browser for enhanced security.

Follow these steps to use the CSV importer:

Step 1: Set Up Columns and Filters

Enable any columns you want to import values into by using the Columns menu. Apply any relevant filters to narrow down the data in your edit.

Next, open the Additional Tools menu and select Import changes from CSV file.

Step 2: Upload CSV File and Map Columns

Click Choose file and locate the CSV file on your computer.

Once uploaded, Espresso will read the file and detect its header titles. To match rows in your file to rows in the edit, select a unique identifier (e.g., handle, SKU).

Afterward, map the columns from your file to the corresponding columns in your edit. You can map multiple columns if needed.

The imported changes will appear as unsaved changes in your edit. You can review and remove individual changes or discard all changes entirely before saving.

Step 4: Save and Publish

Changes will only be applied to your store once you save and publish your edit. This ensures you have complete control over what goes live.
